Her loving owner Cheryl Stephan had throughout the years collected many abandoned animals, many of them baby fawns.
Sarge was exceedingly kind and compassionate with all the rescued animals, but he had a sweet place for Buckheat since Cheryl had adopted him as her first orphaned deer.
Sarge had some pleasant sensations when he first spotted this small creature. Once he was charmed by the deer’s right, and before long he was guarding him.
Every aspect of caring for Buckwheat was aided by the faithful dog. He immediately assumed the crucial role of “mom” to the fawn.
Wherever Buckheat went, the dog always followed to make sure he was alright. When the fawn reached adulthood and went on his own adventures, Sarge had to go look for him and bring him home.
After Buckheat had grown and developed into a powerful man, Cheryl had to release him into the wild. That destroyed the good dog. His owner also indicated that he will never be as friendly with other animals.
Fortunately, she misunderstood. Sarge’s compassion returned as soon as Cheryl brought in fresh fawns for rehabilitation. He was immediately engaged to keep an eye on these incredible monsters’ kids.
