The concerned caller reported a canine trapped on an active train track, unsure whether the dog was deliberately left there or if its leash had accidentally become entangled. Understanding the urgency of the situation, Animal Care Officer Edwards immediately rushed to the scene. Approaching the distressed dog, Officer Edwards quickly realized the gravity of the situation, realizing that the dog, later named Lucky, was in a perilous position on the train tracks.
In a heart-wrenching turn of events, Officer Edwards of City of San Antonio Animal Care Services (SAACS) discovered that the leash tied around Lucky’s neck was intentionally secured to the tracks with a nail, gradually tightening as the frightened dog pulled away. Lucky’s fear and lack of trust made the rescue operation even more challenging for Officer Edwards.
Undeterred by Lucky’s apprehension, Officer Edwards remained resolute in his mission to gain the dog’s trust and free him from the perilous situation before a train approached. With utmost care and precision, Officer Edwards approached Lucky and managed to secure him using a humane catch pole just a few minutes later.
As Officer Edwards removed the tight leash from Lucky’s neck, an impending sense of danger loomed in the distance: the sound of an approaching train. Acting swiftly and ensuring Lucky’s safety, Officer Edwards swiftly guided the dog off the tracks just moments before the train zoomed past.

Lucky, the dog trapped on the train tracks, was successfully rescued by Officer Edwards just in time before the train passed. When Mr. C. viewed SAACS’s message, he fell head over heels for Lucky. He made a time to meet Lucky, and as soon as they did, Mr. C. knew Lucky was the dog for him.
“As soon as I saw him, I knew he was the type of dog my family would get along with. He was very laid back and unconcerned,” Mr. C said to SAACS, according to a Facebook post.
Before choosing to permanently take Lucky home, Mr. C. spent thirty minutes hanging out with him at SAACS. After a few of days, Lucky’s adoption was confirmed, and the adorable dog was now prepared to begin his new life with a caring family.
Lucky, who was subsequently given the name Duke, has now gotten used to his new surroundings and is more content than ever with his father.
Duke’s SAACS pals are ecstatic that they were able to save him in time and give him the life he deserved despite the fact that they are still unsure of how he got onto the train tracks.
SAACS said, “We’re not sure whether Lucky’s leash snagged the nail as he went by or if someone restrained him. However, we are very appreciative to individuals who called 3-1-1 to report the emergency and Animal Care Officer Edwards for bringing the man to safety.
